TIME is running out for local charitable groups to claim grants of up to £50,000 which are available through the Wiltshire Times.
The Gannett Foundation Fund, the charitable arm of the Wiltshire Times and Chippenham News' parent company Gannett, is looking for registered charities which would benefit most from extra funding.
The foundation provides grants twice a year but the deadline for applications is Wednesday.
Last year Trowbridge-based West Wiltshire Portage Service, which helps children with learning difficulties, received £1,000 from the Gannett Foundation.
Wiltshire Times editor Andy Sambidge said: "I would encourage charities to apply for this grant but I would like to remind those thinking of applying to read the guidelines carefully to see if you qualify.
"With sources of grants few and far between, this is an ideal opportunity to secure some funds for a worthwhile project which will be of benefit to the local community."
Only the 2008 application forms can be used to apply.
All applicants must be a registered charity and the Gannett Trust does not fund salaries, publicity campaigns or general running costs.
Grants are not given to schools, public or private, except to schools catering for children with disabilities or complex needs.
The same rule applies to pre-schools and after-school clubs and uniformed groups such as the scouts and guides.
Application forms and information on the criteria are available from the Wiltshire Times offices in Duke Street, Trowbridge, or by visiting our website at www.wiltshiretimes.co.uk or email cevry@newswilts.co.uk Call (01225) 773638 for more information.
